Arriving back home!

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:00 am by dgcombs

Linda and I travelled home in a very quiet car – just the two of us.Demian called when we were about half way. He said it was storming in Atlanta. We looked out the windows and didn’t see anything other than some clouds. Wefigured that was good. After an hour or so, Demian called back. The power hadgone out in Peachtree City. He said he was going to a movie.

We got home in the dark. The lights were out all over our neighborhood. Thehouse was dark. The kitchen was dark. The living room was – ouch! – dark. Weput things away and lit some flashlights and sat in the, well… dark. Afteran hour of that, we decided to head for bed. It was all just too dark and Ihad to go to work the next day.

I laid down and waited for sleep to come. Just as I was drifting off andbeginning to be relaxed, the lights came on! My new clock radio flashed ONOFF ON OFF and zip reset itself to the right time (gotta love that newfeature!). I struggeled to my feat and turned off the lights. I guess I leftthem on when I went to bed. I laid back down and tried to go to sleep again, this time in my own self imposed dark!

Made it to North Carolina!

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:00 am by dgcombs

Linda and I took Justin and Cody back home. We arrived late yesterday evening.

We made one stop for lunch in a little place called Gaffney at arestaurant called “”Big Daddy’s Barbeque”” of Exit 92 in South Carolina. This is the last place you can stopon I-85 to get barbeque made with tomato based barbeque sauce. In NorthCarolina, barbeque means vinegar based BBQ sauce!

Linda liked the hushpuppies and salads, but didn’t like the slaw.

I asked a dumb questions though. All the items on the menu said things like””Barbeque plate”” and “”Barbeque sandwich.”” So I asked, “”barbeque WHAT? Chicken?beef? turkey? pork?”” The young lady assisting us looked at me funny as shesaid, “”…. uh.. pork. what else is there?”” I guess it’s like getting””tea”” in the South. It comes with sugar. You have to specify if you want it””UNSWEET”” so you can obviously put sweet-n-low in it.

When we got here, we tried to get Justin and Cody out for dinner. But Justinwas too full from lunch at Big Daddy’s. So Cody routed Linda and me to a nicehomey mexican place. He was so proud of himself for being able to find itwithout any help!

Wow! Blogging is complicated!

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:00 am by dgcombs

I got the blog basically up and running, but adding the things I need to make it cool is another step.

Some of the things, like remote blogging, write backs, adding picturesand putting in menuing system using Cascading style sheets is more thanI bargained for. But there are quire a few locations that have some help.

I might be sorry to have chosen to start with Blosxom as the originalauthor is trying to turn it over to others and while there’s a lot ofpeople willing to “”help”” most of them are not programmers.
